Welcome to Elementary Drama!
Welcome to the ES Drama page, and to AISB. We look forward to this year and to all the adventures that it holds in store. The aim of Drama is to enhance the imagination of students, giving them a chance to express themselves creatively and with confidence.
We offer one class a week to Grades 3, 4 and 5. We encourage the integration of content from the classroom where, and when, possible. The benefits from this class include improved literacy skills, movement and acting skills, and very importantly, the ability to collaborate while moving toward a common goal.

Mr. Gillis has taught in Canada, Japan, and Hungary and has had a variety of classroom experiences. During his break from education, he focused his attention on raising three sons. This afforded him the opportunity to qualify and practise garden design. He is also an Ikebana artist and garden historian. Mr. Gillis's passion for gardens has been reflected in the development of outdoor learning spaces at AISB.
A passionate supporter of the Arts, Mr. Gillis has been a part of the Budapest Community Players, and YTG (Yokohama Theatre Group), participating both on stage and backstage. After his return to AISB, he taught Grade 2. There he was the visionary behind the annual circus performance linked to the Balance and Motion Unit in Science. Mr. Gillis also worked to further develop ASIB's Set Design programme in the MS and HS for 8 years. His experience behind stage and within the ES Drama curriculum spans over a decade, giving him the experience and confidence necessary to move the department forward. |
